Congratulations to Angela Chen (Class of 2020) who has been announced as the recipient of a 2021 TJ Ryan Memorial Medal and Scholarship. Angela was recently awarded a QCAA Distinguished Academic Achiever for demonstrating exceptionally high achievement across a diverse range of leaning options. She was one of 37 students in the state to achieve this award. Angela has demonstrated a sustained and strong commitment to the State High community in many ways. This has included her influential and strategic work as both Prefect and Technical Crew Captain. Since graduating, Angela has moved interstate to study a Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales.
The TJ Ryan Memorial Medal represents a long-standing tradition of recognising educational achievement in Queensland. The award is a memorial to Thomas Joseph Ryan, former teacher, barrister and Queensland Premier (1915–1919), and are provided to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to high academic achievement and outstanding leadership in both their school and the local community.
