Outdoor Learning Area
During Term 3, 2019, the areas in front of A and E Blocks (fronting Vulture Street) were converted from carparks into delightful shaded seating areas with sustainable planting for our students and staff to utilise. The project cost $526,000. Funding for the project came from many sources within our school community. The school applied for subsidy funding from the Department of Education and received $208,230. Our State High Foundation Board undertook an ‘Annual Giving Appeal’ and raised over $40,000 with contributions coming from Board members, past students and current parents/guardians and the P&C Association contributed $10,000 to the landscaping with a focus on sustainable planting. We now have our own herb and citrus gardens. This very generous support allowed this project to come to fruition with enhancements. Thank you all for your generosity.
The project is now complete and is a wonderful area for our students to utilise. There are significant shaded seating areas which can also be used by teachers and students for informal classroom settings.
