On Saturday 14 March, six instrumentalists from various schools competed in the final of the Young Instrumentalist Prize. The competition presents an opportunity for exceptional Queensland school students to audition in front of a panel of Queensland Symphony Orchestra musicians, with a public performance opportunity, cash prizes and mentoring opportunities available to up to six finalists.
Congratulations to Year 12 violinist Theonie Wang for her outstanding performance at the Young Instrumentalist Prize. Theonie has won the honour of performing a solo with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at two of their performances this year. Year 11 student Joshua Jones placed second with his performance of Dvorak's Cello concerto. Well done!
