A brisk morning on Saturday 11 May saw our QGSSSA Cross Country team march into Rivermount College at Yatala cheering for the BLUE-RED-BLUE. The QGSSSA competition involves the 10 member schools with a total of 950 girls competing this year. The calibre of this competition is demonstrated through the number of state and national level runners competing across the schools.
After four months of training runs and lead up meets, this was the time for our team to shine and our girls did not disappoint. Our team achieved a first race win with our QGSSSA Cross Country Captain, Nikita Moore (Year 11), leading by example taking first place in the 17 Years and Over race. Significantly, our QGSSSA Cross Country Vice-Captains also embraced the challenge with Isabella Gordon (Year 11) achieving sixth place and Gabby Williams-Scudamore (Year 12) in 14th place in the 17 Years and Over race. The last race of the day – 16 Years – also produced a winning combination with our girls taking four of the top ten placings.
