Congratulations to State High cricketers Charli Knott (Year 12), Hiruni Liyanarachchi Don (Year 12), Georgia Voll (Year 11) and Ryleigh Wotherspoon (Year 11) on their recent success.
These four State High students competed in the Cricket Australia Under 18 Female National Championships in Tasmania from Sunday 12 to Friday 24 January. In the Under 18 Queensland team, Charli was Captain and Georgia was part of the leadership group which supported Charlie throughout the tournament. Hiruni represented the Northern Territory team and Ryleigh represented the Under 15 Cricket Australia team in this championship event.
In the 50 over competition, Ryleigh was one of only two players to hit a century against Tasmania. Charli and Georgia made the finals in both the 50 over and Twenty20 competitions. At the presentation, Georgia received the Prestigious Betty Wilson Medallist Award for Player of the Carnival.
Georgia was selected to make her Women's National Cricket League debut for the Queensland Fire against Victoria on Tuesday 4 February. Charli is also on the Queensland Fire team. Their team defeated Victoria in the first game, but unfortunately, the second game was cancelled due to the weather.
Charli was selected for the Australia A team which played against the full Australia side as a warm up match for the World Cup. She also played for the Governor-General's XI in another warm up match against India and won!
Well done to our students.
