State High congratulates siblings Talia Inivale (Year 8) and Sefa Inivale (Year 10) who competed at the 2018 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships in Runaway Bay over the weekend of the 28-29 April. They were the only brother/sister combination competing at nationals to represent Queensland.
Talia claimed her second Australian record and a PB in the (3kg) shot put with a throw of 14.66m. She was trailing in second place until her 6th and final throw where she unleashed her best performance. This added to the trifecta winning gold in the discus and was a member of the gold winning 4x100m relay team. She was also a finalist in the 80m hurdles achieving PBs in shot put and hurdles. Well done!
Sefa competed in the gruelling seven event heptathlon of 100m, 110m hurdles, javelin, high jump, discus & 800m over the two days and won the bronze national title along with three PB's in the 100m, 110m hurdles & javelin. He also competed in an additional event with the 4x100m relay team who placed 4th and were just pipped for 3rd place.
