On Thursday 5 September, at the Melbourne Writers Festival, Express Media announced the results of their 2019 John Marsden and Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers competition. Congratulations to Grace Xu (Year 11) who was selected as one of five shortlisted writers in the Poetry category for her work, 'domestic days'. Grace's entry was shortlisted out of a field of over 450 entrants!

The John Marsden & Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers is a developmental award which is open to Australian secondary school students and recognises excellence in three creative writing categories: fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Shortlisted writers in this competition receive feedback on their work, are invited to meet John Marsden and participate in an exclusive creative writing workshop at the 2019 Melbourne Writers Festival.
