​The swimming season commences Term 1 Week 1 to Term 1 Week 6.

Compulsory Registration and Consent

Parents are required to complete the online registration and consent for their child via the school website.

Please complete the online web form including each sport that your child may undertake for the year. The web form generates a school consent form which is to be completed, signed and placed in the tray on the counter in the Extra Curricular Office in room D101.

Team App for Coaches, Swimmers and Parents

Swimming is using a smartphone app as the main means of communication between coaching staff, swimmers and parents.

Team App keeps member contact details private and no members can communicate with each other through the app.

To download, go to

  1. Sign-up using your name, date of birth and email address. You'll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
  2. Search for 'BSHS Girls or Boys Swimming' and request access to the group which applies to you.
  3. Once your request is approved, you will be able to see news and upcoming BSHS Girls or Boys Swimming events on your device or by checking your emails.
  4. Please note that turning on push notifications on the app allows you not to miss important posts as they are made, however, this can be switched off at any time.


Swimmer must pay an annual levy for buses to some meets, training equipment, coach apparel, administration costs, coach gifts, QGSSSA/GPS afternoon tea and trophies.

The Brisbane State High School Interhouse Carnival and spectating at GPS and QGSSSA Championships are official events counted towards minimum pocket requirements.


Tuesday morning (Years 7,8,9) compulsory

7:00am – 8:15am


Swimmers who train before school with the BSHS squad and then swim again during the day for HPE class need only pay pool entry once for the entire day. This training is followed by a free sausage sizzle provided by the support of volunteer parents.

Wednesday morning (all year levels, non-compulsory)

7:00am – 8:15am

Swimmers are expected to pay pool entry of $3.00 each time they attend the Wednesday morning training as well as sign the attendance list at the counter.

Thursday morning ( Years 10,11,12) compulsory

7:00am – 8:15am

This training is followed by a free sausage sizzle provided by the support of volunteer parents.

Swimming Camp Transport

A charter bus will transport swimmers and staff to and from the camp departing and returning to Edmondstone Street school gate. For information about the Year 7 to 12 boy's and girl's swimming camp held at the Runaway Bay Super Sports Centre before the commencement of the school year, please contact the Extra-curricular office phone (07) 32914235 between 8:00am and 4:00pm.

Season Transport

Boys - A bus will be provided for the Nudgee College Pool and Brisbane Aquatic Centre for meets as well as the QGSSSA Championships. Transport to and from all other invitational meets within Brisbane is the responsibility of parents.

Girls – Non-return Charter buses will be provided to St Peters Lutheran College, Valley Pool, Toowoomba Grammar Meet at Chandler pool, GPS Championships as well as the QGSSSA Championships. A return carter bus will take swimmer to and from Moreton Bay College. Transport to and from all other meets within Brisbane is the responsibility of parents.


Swimmers must wear the school swimwear and cap, available from the Uniform Shop:

  • boys swimwear
  • girls swimwear
  • swimming cap
  • swimming polo

All swimmers should wear their swimming shirt to each meet.


Swimming is run entirely by volunteers. To help with set up, training BBQ's or coaching please contact the Master-in-Charge

End of Season Presentation

A combined end of season presentation dinner is held for Boys and Girls Swimming. Details regarding confirmed venue and ticket availability will be advised once the season begins. Tickets are sold at the B Block Finance Counter and must be purchased by the closing date to enable catering numbers to be finalised. Once ticket sales are closed no further tickets will be available for purchase.
