Dance Troupe

​​Dance Troupe is an extra-curricular program for students who are passionate about dance and performance.

Achieving success at performances and eisteddfods throughout the year, the program caters for students of varied ages and dance experience.

Students train in a range of genres:

  • musical theatre
  • hip hop
  • jazz
  • Bollywood
  • ballet
  • contemporary

At the beginning of each school year, students may audition to be a part of one of the troupes.

Dance troupes available for boys, girls, and mixed classes.

A select combination of female and male dancers from the junior and senior dance troupes and girls' and boys' crews

Bollywood Dance Troupe

Female students of all year levels

Ballet Dance Troupe (not occurring​ in 2017)

Ballet dancers of all year levels (previous en pointe experience is necessary for girls)


Dance Troupe Rehearsals occur on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons during the school term. The 2020 rehearsal schedule is below:

Any changes or additions to this rehearsal schedule will be communicated via email with at least one week's notice. Students and parents should also refer to Team App.


We are using a smartphone app to facilitate easier communication between staff, students and parents. TeamApp is designed for use on smartphones (android and iPhone), iPads and iPods, and can also be viewed online. It is free to download and does not incur a membership fee.

TeamApp keeps member contact details private and students cannot communicate with each other through the app.

To download, go to Team App:

1.       Sign-up using your name, date of birth and email address. You'll be sent an email to confirm your registration.

2.       Search for BSHS Dance and request access to the group students, teachers, or parents (whichever applies to you).

3.       Once your request is approved you will be able to see news and upcoming BSHS Dance Troupe events.

Workshops and competitions

Troupe members engage in industry professional workshops and are mentored by our Brisbane State High dance alumni.

They compete in a number of prestigious dance competitions such as:

  • Brisbane Eisteddfod
  • DanceLife Unite
  • Quota Beenleigh
  • Gold Coast Eisteddfod

Students are also invited to perform within the school production as well as dance showcases, assemblies, the Musical and International Food Festival, and other school events such as the awards and graduation ceremonies.
