T20 State Champions

On Tuesday 12 November, State High's 9A Cricket Team travelled to Townsville to compete in the state final for the StreetSmarts T20 Challenge (Intermediate). The team was invited to participate in this event after they won the 9A GPS Cricket premiership earlier this year. The team progressed through the two preliminary stages of the competition to book themselves a place in the state final against Ignatius Park College in Townsville.

The students flew out of Brisbane at 6:05am to arrive for in time for their 10:30am final. State High scored 4/132 off their 20 overs with GPS Cricket Captain Josh Martin unbeaten on 51. Connor Smith – who would later win the Player of the Match award – led from the front taking three wickets for eight runs as Ignatius Park fell short of the target by 45 runs (6/87 off 20 overs). The students landed back in Brisbane later that evening as the newly crowned T20 State Champions.
