State Schools Orienteering Championships

In July, Mikaela Gray (Year 10) and Ryan Gray (Year 12) and Oliver Peck (Year 8) participated in the Queensland Schools Orienteering Championships.

Over 100 students from all around Queensland took part in three events: a Sprint Distance event held at Redbank Plains State High School and two bush events at Kholo Hills.

In their respective age groups, Mikaela, Ryan and Oliver achieved the following results:

Oceania Orienteering Championships

Following their success in the state competition, Mikaela and Ryan were selected in the Queensland team – comprising 22 students – to represent the state in the Oceania Orienteering Championships. The championship event was held in the steep granite terrain of Wagga Wagga, NSW, from Saturday 28 September – Sunday 6 October.

Over the carnival, comprising the Oceania Orienteering Championships, the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships and the Australian Long Distance Championships, Mikaela and Ryan came away achieving significant medals and honours.
