On Friday 4 October, during the school holidays, seven Year 11 students were given the amazing opportunity to participate in the QIMR Berghofer Holiday Science Experience. Participating alongside myself (Vedithya Pathirana) were Holly Lindstrom, Emi Maruyama, Devsi Patel, Mia Stuckey, Khoa Tran and Brendan Yang.

This opportunity enabled us to experience the facilities inside the centre first-hand and exposed them to a medical research environment. The experience involved a tour of the facility, presentations from fascinating scientists at the institute and hands-on experience in a laboratory environment where we were able to apply nuanced scientific processes.
Overall, it was an extremely insightful experience and all activities challenged our scientific depths, encouraging us to think 'outside the box'.
