While also debating in the GPS and QDU competitions this year, girls from the Year 10 State High team entered the BGDA (Brisbane Girls Debating Association) competition.
"The purpose of the competition is to give young female debaters the opportunity to improve and gain skills in public speaking, leadership, critical analysis and team work in an inclusive and supportive environment." - http://www.bgda.org.au
It certainly lived up to its promise. There were five rounds of 'short prep' debate over several months, each including 'points of information' culminating in the grand final on Monday 14 May. We are pleased to report that the State High Year 10 team won their BGDA grand final for 2018. Well done Lara Pruim, Claire Hambling, Alex Farago and Sophie Hooper! The Year 10 girls also reported great camaraderie with the other BGDA teams and are looking forward to the QDU finals rounds.
